I’ve been giving presentations on LGBTQ topics since 1998, and doing so is something that i enjoy tremendously. I would love to come talk to your organization, school, community group, or company! All of my workshops can be tailored to meet your particular needs and come very highly rated from past attendees.
Below are my current offerings. Other workshops that i’ve given can also be revived if that would suit your group’s goals. My prices are on a sliding scale. I can offer a workshop for as long as you need but would ask for at least one hour if at all possible; things get too rushed with less time.
If you’re interested, let’s discuss your group’s needs and your objectives for a training. Drop me a line and we can set up a time to talk.
Trans 101
This workshop will introduce attendees to the concepts of transgender and gender non-conformity, as well as how gender operates for everyone, trans or not. The training will detail discrimination faced by gender non-conformers in the US and introduce trans politics and the trans liberation struggle. Issues of race, class, and other intersecting identities will be integrated throughout. We’ll wrap up by talking about ways that attendees can be trans allies.
LGBTQ 101
This training is an introductory-level presentation on the experiences and issues of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning. We’ll discuss LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. The workshop will offer details on the discrimination faced by LGBTQ individuals in the US, as well as LGBTQ politics. Issues of race, class, and other intersecting identities will be integrated throughout. We’ll end by discussing the ways that attendees can be LGBTQ allies.
The Boys’ Line or the Girls’ Line?: Gender Segregating Children and Youth
This workshop will give your school or youth-serving organization an introduction to how being transgender or gender non-conforming impacts children, youth, and young adults; what gender segregation is; and the degree to which gender segregation negatively impacts trans, gender non-conforming, and cisgender (non-trans) young people. Issues of race, class, and other intersecting identities will be integrated throughout. We’ll discuss specific, concrete alternatives to gender segregation and ways of making schools and youth-serving programs safe for trans and gender non-conforming children, teens, and young adults.
